What they are.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are autologous regenerative preparations — meaning they're made entirely from your own blood, processed in-office during your appointment. We draw a small tube of blood and centrifuge it to concentrate the platelets, which carry the growth factors the body uses to signal repair: PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and others.
PRP is the liquid concentrate. It's drawn with anticoagulant, which keeps it fluid for injection — best for hair restoration, scalp microneedling, and standard skin rejuvenation. PRF is processed without anticoagulant, which lets the fibrin form a soft matrix that releases growth factors more slowly over the following 1–2 weeks — best for under-eye work, mid-face support, and post-procedure healing where extended release matters.
What we treat.
- Hair restoration — scalp microinjections for early-to-moderate androgenetic hair thinning. Series treatment.
- Under-eye texture & volume — PRF in particular adds soft support to the periorbital area without the migration risk of HA.
- Mid-face skin quality — improves overall texture, tone, and dermal density.
- Acne scarring — paired with microneedling or laser, accelerates remodeling of atrophic scars.
- Post-procedure healing — applied topically after microneedling, fractional laser, or RF microneedling to accelerate recovery.
- Hand rejuvenation — improves dorsal hand skin texture and dermal volume.
- Décolleté & neck — fine-line and texture work in zones where filler is rarely the right answer.
What to expect.
A PRP/PRF appointment is 60–90 minutes — longer for hair restoration. The first 15 minutes is the consult and blood draw. Centrifugation runs 10–15 minutes. Treatment itself is 20–45 minutes depending on the area. Topical numbing makes the injection or microneedling comfortable.
Expect mild swelling and pinpoint bruising for 24–72 hours. The visible improvement is gradual and biological: skin tone clarifies over 2–4 weeks, texture improvement builds over 8–12 weeks. Hair restoration cases see new growth at 12–16 weeks of a series.

Results & cadence.
Most cosmetic indications respond best to a series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance every 6–9 months. Hair restoration follows a more intensive protocol: 3–4 monthly initial sessions, then quarterly maintenance. PRP/PRF pairs naturally with microneedling, RF microneedling, and EZGel — different parts of the same regenerative ecosystem.
Considerations.
Common, expected effects: redness, swelling, mild tenderness, and pinpoint bruising for 24–72 hours. Less common: longer bruising under the eyes. PRP/PRF is deferred during pregnancy, breastfeeding, active infection at the site, severe systemic illness, anticoagulant therapy that can't be paused, and bleeding/platelet disorders.
Who places it.
Every PRP/PRF treatment at Privé is performed by Elizabeth Hurley, RN, BSN, CANS — a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist. The blood draw, centrifugation, and processing all happen in-suite at the Hillcrest studio under controlled conditions. Same blood, same room, same hands — start to finish.
